Turkey 25 Kurush Full Obverse Brockage Error

Interesting full obverse brockage error struck on a Turkish 25 Kurush gold (91.7%) coin KM#851. . The 25 kurush was struck by Turkey as a bullion coin for most of the 20th Century and this one dates from sometime in that period. Grade is nice but it’s either been wiped or struck from polished dies and I cannot tell which. The person it was bought from said it was a “Monnaie de Luxe” (MDL) coin which were struck from special dies for presentation purposes. The MDL coins were slightly under the weight of the standard bullion issues, this one weighs 1.76g which is just under the bullion issue weight of 1.8041g so perhaps it is indeed an MDL coin.

Errors on gold coins are rare, but brockages on 25 and 50 kurush coins from Turkey do show up for sale from time to time.
