Australia 1979 20c PCGS MS64 Struck on Nepal Rupee Planchet
At 7.5g this coin is significantly underweight for an Australian 20 cent piece (11.31g). It’s actually been struck on a wrong planchet, not just a wrong planchet but a foreign planchet. In 1979 (as per the annual report) the Royal Australian Mint struck 30 million Nepalese rupees (in the same cupro-nickel composition) and it appears a stray blank jumped ship and is living the dream of being a 20 cent instead.
