The Mint Birmingham Limited Advertising Token
Undated Copper advertising token 25.6mm
Adv 24
A Numismatic History of the Birmingham Mint by James O Sweeney (p. 67) suggest a date of 1889 as the Mint also, in that year, struck a medal to commemorate the visit to the Mint by the Shah of Persia with that same reverse. That reverse , with the old Birmingham City Coat of Arms, a male worker and a female artist either side of a shield, was also used on other undated advertising pieces.
