South Africa 1963 Short Proof Set
Short proof set comprising 1/2 cent through to 50 cent. Coins came in blue leatherette box with gilt clasp and white satin interior with gold monogram SAM on the lid interior. These coins were selected from 4 different 1963 proof sets. Interestingly it’s a simple matter to deduce which way up the most of coins were stored in the box. For example, the 10 cent was stored obverse up (as shown by the colourful reverse toning), while in contrast the 20 cent was stored obverse down. Total mintage of the short proof set for 1963 was 2,525.
