Australia 1915 Struck in Honour of Our Boys at the Dardanelles

Listed in Carlisle as C1915/17. Minted in bronze, brass, and aluminium. This one is brass. Believed to be the first medallion produced to remember Gallipoli in June 1915 by the East Perth Football Club in Western Australia. Mintage is 12,000. One side depicts a standing Australian soldier with desert and palm trees in the background and the words “STRUCK IN HONOUR OF OUR BOYS AT HTE DARDANELLES”. The other side shows a ribbon device with “GOD SPEED THE ALLIES” in the centre, and “WESTERN AUSTRALIA 1915” around.
