Great Britain 1997 Two Pence Wrong Planchet Error
British 2p from 1997 that is underweight at 6.3 grams. Most spectacular is that it’s been struck on a scalloped planchet instead of the normal round coin blank. It’s magnetic as a normal two pence is so the planchet likely has the same composition of copper plated steel. A regular 2p should weigh 7.12 grams. This coin was struck at the Royal Mint in London, what else were they minting at the same time that had these 12 wavy sides? Contact us if you have any ideas.
