Scalloped Planchet Royal Mint Trial nd (1957)

Scalloped Planchet Royal Mint Trial nd (1957)

A trial piece struck at the Royal Mint in London in 1957. Design (the same on both sides) depicts a mint worker striking coins, a design used by the Royal Mint with the legend “Britannia Moneta”.

Interestingly, this is the same planchet type used for the new currency for Ghana struck by the Royal Mint in 1958 for their copper-nickel threepence.
