Australia 1966 Sydney Coin Club Decimal Changeover Medal Cadmium Plated Carlisle 1966/11

The second in a series of commemorative medals from the Sydney Coin Club, this one depicting Australian pre-decimal coins and the new decimal coins introduced on February 14 1966. One side shows the old coinage, the threepence, sixpence, shilling, halfpenny, penny and florin -the florin dated 1964 which of course is very rare indeed. The reverse shows a grand round 50 cent only found in 1966 and it’s decimal friends the 20 cent, 10 cent, 5 cent, 2 cent and 1 cent coins. A lovely medal commemorating the decimal currency changeover on 14th February. This example weight 17.86g (note this is different from ref K00138).

This medal cadmium plated, it was also made in silver and bronze. Carlisle catalogue reference 1966/11. In box of issue.
