1915 Australian War Contingent Assocation Chocolate Tin

A Gift to the Australian Expeditionary Force

Empty tin with plated with gold paint and possibly lacquer. Front decorated with Australian coat of arms and the legend:

THE AUSTRALIAN WAR CONTINGENT ASSOCATION, LONDON
“A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL”

According to this article on the Australian War Memorial it contained Fry’s Chocolate. The same article says that the London based Australian War Contingent Association produced gifts like this for the Australian soldiers during festive events like Christmas and New Year.
