Out of collar (no collar) coin error in a lovely high grade.
We call this error a cold shut. The coin was struck on a planchet that had a piece of metal rolled into the planchet and that piece fell out before the coin was struck. This left the struck coin with weakness behind where the stray metal piece was adhered. The coin is underweight at 8.97g.
A die adjustment strike or weak strike error caused by a low pressure strike of the press. This may be caused by a press malfunction or a lower pressure test strike. Could be either Melbourne or Perth.
